The MGCDSW operationalized an assessment and registration mechanism to identify and bring on board beneficiaries of the COVID 19 Urban Cash Intervention (CUCI) in Malawi’s two major cities, Lilongwe and Zomba. Between March and July 2021, over 95,000 households, representing 378,000 individuals were assessed and enrolled into the CUCI.
ILO's contribution to the outcome
The ILO provided support to the government to develop a rapid assessment and registration criteria for the COVID 19 Urban Cash Interventions (CUCI). The methodology applied innovative targeting techniques applying a blend of geographical mapping and on-ground vulnerability assessment exercises.
Partnerships
United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) contributed to the development of the shock responsive module and online application.
