Session 3: Integration of contributory and non-contributory old-age benefits

UU/PP PPSK opened policy discussions on reforming severance pay, JHT and JP. Why was the reform needed? What is the Government’s proposal? Moreover, even after the implementation of PPSK, no pension scheme will be available for self-employed workers (BPU) and people outside the labour market (BU). How can Indonesia achieve universal pension coverage?

Session 4: Employment of older persons and health care

In the absence of pension for all citizens, many older persons continue working after corporate retirement age. Different age requirements are creating gaps in protection. Corporate retirement age is commonly set at 55; JKP does not accept persons older than 54 years old; JHT allows participants to withdraw their savings at age 56; JP’s pensionable age is age 59 and increase to age 65 by 2043. Many older persons will neither be protected by JKP nor become eligible to receive JHT and JP.
