Launch of the publication on Social Protection Floor for a Fair and Inclusive Globalisation in Thailand
The launch of the publication “Social Protection Floor – For a Fair and Inclusive Globalization” in Thailand took place on Friday, 9 December 2011 from 08:00 hours to 12:30 hours in Conference Room 4, the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC), Bangkok.
The purpose of the event was to share the conclusions and recommendations of the Social Protection Floor Advisory Group’s report entitled “Social Protection Floor for a Fair and Inclusive Globalization” and the ESCAP regional study entitled “The Promise of Protection: Social Protection and Development in Asia and the Pacific”. Also, to present the United Nations contribution to the Social Protection Floor-I in Thailand.
The “Social Protection Floor for a Fair and Inclusive Globalization” report was presented by Martin Hirsch. Martin was appointed in the Government in may 2007 as High Commissioner against poverty and in addition as high commissioner for youth policy. In July 2010, he joined the Social Protection Floor Initiative Advisory Group chaired by Michelle Bachelet, former president of Chile.
