Orientation Training on Social Protection

On 20-21 May 2013, AusAid, in coordination with the International Labour Organisation (ILO), organised an orientation training on social protection. The workshop has the objectives of fostering a better understanding of social protection and its positive impacts. Through presentations, discussions and exercises, the workshop addressed the general terms, history and approaches of social protection as well as in-depth analysis and evidence of the impact of social protection on poverty reduction and economic growth. Experiences from around the world were presented in support of the discussions. The workshop is also intended to support the process of the assessment based national dialogue exercise taking place in Lao PDR. Facilitators of the workshop include Dr Stephen Kidd, Georgia Rowe, Dulce Simmaivong and Sinta Satriana.
