Assessment of National Legislation in relation with the ILO Convention No. 183 in Uzbekistan
Summary
This report is aimed at examining the compatibility of the existing legal framework of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of maternity protection in accordance with the provisions of ILO Convention No. 183.
The objectives of this analysis are to assess the current situation, regulatory framework, and practices to examine the compatibility of Uzbekistan’s legislation with Convention No. 183, as well as to provide recommendations of legal, policy and financial implications in the case of a possible future ratification of the Convention.
The methodology of the analysis is desk review of publicly accessible laws and other legislative documents. The logical framework for this analysis is a ranking principle proceeding from the general to the particular, which will examine the country’s initial legal and regulatory basis concerning maternity protection as specified in ILO Convention No. 183.
This analysis consists of an introduction, six chapters on the legal framework and key policy documents and practice in relation to maternity protection, conclusion, recommendations and annexes.
